A recent report by the foreign media has said that Apple has decreased component orders for the iPhone 4. This is usually a sign that a company is usually getting ready to start production on a new product. In Apple’s case, it is likely to be a new iPhone. This would confirm rumors that the next-generation iPhone would be announced in August and be released coincidentally with iOS 5 in the fall.
According to Taiwanese media sources, Apple has decreased its circuit board orders from manufacturers during the second quarter.
The report states that Taiwanese circuit board manufacturers, who supply components for the iPad and iPhone, saw a drop in orders during the second quarter. Based on the production orders placed so far in June it doesn’t seem that this trend is coming to an end.
Apple has told their suppliers to cut orders by 10 percent for the summer. Similarly, another report says that Apple is pressuring suppliers to cut cost by 10 percent for this quarter, according to the same sources.
The iPhone 4 is expected to see an increase in shipments over the next few months. These units are expected to see a price cut after Apple unveils the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S.
